Worst. Mom. Ever.
Sometimes, the only possible reaction to a person’s actions is to say, “What the hell is wrong with you?”
Ladies and gents, meet Margery Tannenbaum, a 40-year-old woman who took her vendetta against another person a tad too far… especially in light of the fact that the object of her ire is a 9-year-old. Oh, and her method of seeking revenge? To place a sex ad on Craigslist and direct callers toward the child’s home.

“Who is he talkin’ to about training bras?”
Apparently, Tannenbaum’s child and the girl in question were in some sort of dispute. Now, details aren’t available as to the exact nature of the sandbox set’s fight was over, but how serious could it have been? What is known is that Tannenbaum — a social worker with a degree in psychology — placed an ad on Craigslist seeking men who were “looking for a good time.” When guys responded via E-mail, the sicko shrink gave them the little girl’s home phone number.

The caller ID said it was Ernie calling. The little girl wrongly assumed it was Bert’s roomie.
At least 22 men responded to the ad and phoned the little girl’s home, resulting in the demented doc being arrested and charged with aggravated harassment. Proving that no matter how wrong-headed your actions, there’s an attorney out there who will defend them, Tannenbaum’s legal rep, Tad Scharfenberg, said, “She’s a good woman. She’s a good wife. She’s a really good person. I just can’t see why anyone would want to put this in the news media.”
Um, sir? Good women don’t spend their time hatching sex-based revenge schemes against 9-year-olds. I’m just sayin’.

She may have been a good woman at one time, but she’ s obviously got some serious problems.
What is WRONG with people? This kind of thing isn’t EVER going to be considered ok. And it BELONGS in the news.
Of 90% of the crap they feed us about celebrities and nonsense, THIS kind of thing DOES belong in the news.
Yeah, I have to say… I was stunned when I heard this story. Worse, one of the New York City papers wrote a headline which indicated the mom’s behavior was “wacky.”
Just ‘wacky’? Not ‘insane’ or more importantly ‘wrong’? Sweet Baby Jesus.
OMG- some people. I hope she gets jail time! In this day and age does she even realize what COULD have happened? You can usually find out someones address but just having a home phone number. Good Lord!
I was thinking the same thing, Nixx. How difficult would it be to get the address based on a phone number? What if one of these men had shown up on the doorstep of the girl and her family? I see a Law & Order SVU episode coming out of this…
See, this wouldn’t have made the news for the reasons listed above. It would have made the news after I kicked her ass for harassing my nine-year-old.
I bet you’re scary when you’re in ass-kicking mode.
Honey, she’s scary when she’s NOT in kick-ass mode!
Wow.
I’m speechless.
Can you provide a link to this news story please. I’d like to read the source.
The only think I’d like to mention though, (perhaps because of my own profession) and not wanting the likes of her even remotely associated with anything that I do, would be to clarify for your readers the use of the term ‘Social Worker’.
That is a credentialed and licensed Profession, separate from a degree in psychology.
Someone can *work* in the area of Social Services, but Unless they actually have THEE Specific degree in Social Work, ie: Bachelors in Social Work (BSW) or Master’s in Social Work (MSW), they legally can not call themselves a ‘Social Worker’.
It’s kind of like a Paralegal calling themselves a Lawyer.
That seems to be a fairly common mistake that people make, so you wouldn’t be the first.
It just feels like fingers on a chalkboard to me when I come across that, particularly when it’s connected to some complete idiot, that you’ve described above.
Sorry for the Rant… I’m an LCSW – R and her behavior completely disgusts me so much that I don’t even want her associated with what I do professionally.
