Come for the fame, stay for the misfortune!

Two of the kids from 16 & PREGNANT were involved in a legal tussle this week as he filed a restraining order and she filed for a matching one, all of which stems from a confrontation during which she allegedly punched him in the face. 

But what's really interesting about Josh Smith and Jennifer Del Rio (seen here during, er... happier times?) is that in legal papers filed this week, he claims that she got pregnant on purpose... so that she could be a star. According to documents obtained by TMZ, Smith claims that his former girlfriend is a compulsive liar who claimed to be pregnant when she wasn't. Why? So he would forgo condoms and... that's right, get her pregnant. “She wanted so desperately to be on 16 & Pregnant," he explains.

Because for a lot of people out there, landing on a TV show is seen as the gateway to fame and fortune. Why work when you can be America's Next Top something or have cameras follow you around while you flip tables and generally behave badly?

And that's just the adults.

If people like all those supposedly-real Housewives are willing to make fools of themselves in public in exchange for 15 minutes in the spotlight, why wouldn't America's teens see this as a viable option?
