Meet This Week’s Hall of Shame Inductee, Jim Messina
Politics is a dirty enough game without the participants resorting to foul language. And yet, that’s exactly what Jim Messina, campaign manager for President Obama’s reelection effort, did this week.
In a video message posted to supporters on Youtube, Messina — head of Obama For America — addressed charges about funds being raised and their sources by saying, “People have speculated that this is a billion-dollar campaign. That’s bulls**t." The word was bleeped, but it’s unlikely anyone thought he ended that statement with “puckey.”
Can worse profanities can be heard just about any night of the week on cable television? Of course. But shouldn’t we expect better from a representative of the president than we do from a typical episode of American Horror Story?
And so, for helping to lower our standards regarding what is acceptable on the national political stage (as if there’s much farther for us to fall), Jim Messina becomes this week’s inductee into How Rude Are You’s Hall of Shame.
