Ladies and gents, meet hall of shame inductee Claire Irby.

"My friends call me Drunky McDrunkerson!"

 Ms. Irby – the 3o-year-old descendant of the Guiness brewing dynasty – bypassed her clan’s ale in favor of a whole lot of wine during a flight from India to London. She then proceeded to let a fellow passenger grope her breasts (as his girlfriend slept nearby… classy!), allowed her toddler to dash about the aisles nude from the waist down, threw a soiled diaper and – it probably goes without saying — treated the flight crew like dirt.

Not surprisingly, Ms. Irby doesn’t quite recall the details of what happened. “I do remember pushing the call button a few times,” she reportedly told police after the incident, which landed her in a London courtroom this week.

A stewardess reported that Ms. Irby later stripped down to a G-string in full view of passengers, and one passenger on board the flight testified in court that the defendant — who was traveling with her two-year-old son — had thrown a dirty diaper on the seat behind her, called the flight attendant a “bitch” and then demanded a wet wipe so she could wipe the… er… crap off her hands.

Officers who arrested Irby once the plane arrived at Heathrow described her as being drunk, but the beer queen insists that by the time the jet had touched down, she was “not even tipsy.” In fact, according to her, she was simply suffering from the effects of too much caffeine. 

Ms. Irby, in what might well be the understatement of the year, has admitted that she may not have “behaved like a young lady.” But she has, we’re proud to annouce, acted like a proud-for-all-the-wrong-reasons member of our bad behavior Hall Of Shame! Congrats, Ms. Irby! This round is on us!

Virginia Foxx, hoaxmonger

During debate regarding a new hate crime bill — named after murdered gay student Matthew Shepard — the politician described his heinous death as a “hoax” and went on to say that he had died as the result of a robbery which had nothing to do with his sexuality. “I also would like to point out that there was a bill,” said Foxx, “the hate crimes bill that’s called the Matthew Shepard bill is named after a very unfortunate incident that happened where a young man was killed, but we know that young man was killed in the commitment of a robbery. It wasn’t because he was gay.”

An “unfortunate incident” indeed.

Whether one agrees with hate crimes legislation or not, what is truly unfortunate here is that Foxx apparently is unaware of the facts surrounding Shepard’s death. Both police reports and court testimony made it clear that his sexuality was a factor in the circumstances leading up to his death. 

Worse, Shepard’s mother was in the gallery as Foxx made her hurtful, misinformed statements.

Today, Foxx would have us believe that “hoax” was simply a poor choice of words on her part. She now claims that her version of the events leading to Shepard’s death were based on a 2004 ABC 20/20 episode on the young man’s death. 

Really? Out of all the news coverage on Shepard’s death and the fact that it was a hate crime, Foxx expects us to believe she formed her opinion on a single 20/20 episoce from 2004? Has she been storing it on her TiVO all this time, just waiting for a chance to break it out? 

Sorry, but it’s much more likely that as media outlets around the country reported on — and the angry republic respond to — her disturbing rhetoric, Foxx had her staff scour coverage of Shepard’s death for anything she might use to back up her words. That’s right… Foxx went looking for a scapegoat.

The problem is that whether her claim of basing her beliefs on a single 20/20 broadcast are believable or not… whether she made a “poor choice of words” or was guilty of purposeful obsfucation, Virginia Foxx is now on the record as having declared one family’s pain and a nation’s outrage a “hoax.” 

The lesson to be learned here? A simple one that has been spoken by practically every parent on the planet: Think before you speak. Because ironically, once words leave your mouth… you own them. 

And in this case, they bought Representative Virginia Foxx of North Carolina a permanent spot in our Rude Hall Of Shame.

With nearly 3.5 million members, (at a reported ratio, not surprisingly, of about 8 men to every 2 women)  the site — ads for which liken marriage to a bad date or a regrettable one-night stand which goes on eternally — offers weak-willed people the ultimate rationalization right there in its slogan: “Life is short. Have an affair.”

A literal sign of the times.

Um, if life is so short, how about sticking by the person you vowed to love, honor and cherish until death you did part? 

The site loves to wave its freak flag, declaring, “As seen on Howard 20/20, Ellen, Dr. Phil and Larry King” as if to imply all — or, for that matter, any — of those shows thought promoting affairs was a worthwhile endeavor or gave the sleezemongers a thumbs up. And they even offer what they call an “affair guarantee program” which states “if you don’t find someone within the initial 3 months after purchasing… we’ll [offer you a refund].”

Yes, guys, all our clients look like her! Really! Seriously!

Wow. Can they guarantee that lives won’t be destroyed, too? 

No? 

Oh well, you can’t have it all. 

What the folks over at the site can have is their time in our spotlight as the winners of this week’s Rudest Persons Award.

Yes, Mike Wilson — a complete unknown to readers of this site (let alone anyone beyond it) — managed to push his way to the front of the pack, past the girlfriend-biting Brown and the baby-making Suleman by proving that sometimes, you don’t even have to ask the question around which this site is built because the answer is self-evident.

In response to a posting regarding rude behavior at Disney, Mr. Wilson blasted our friends over at disboards.com as “some of the most pathetic adults you’ll find” and then went on to say even worse things about the millions of people who visit the Disney theme parks each year.

“The Disney parks (and likely the forums),” wrote Mr. Wilson, “are filled with a buncha fat, whiney adults who have such a miserable real world they try to escape into the Disney realm every chance they get.”

Better still, when several posters responded that they had pretty great lives, thank you very much, Mr. Wilson’s response was to say “if you’re going to brag about it, post some evidence.”

Of course, most of us had a good laugh at the notion that Mr. Wilson’s life was so happy and fulfilled (not that he posted any evidence to support that notion) that he had nothing better to do than make several visits in which to continue venting his spleen. 

So Mike Wilson, congratulations! For going to a site which focuses on rude behavior and proving just why there is a need for such a site, you have become our latest Rudest Person Of The Week!

Shortly after having been impeached as Illinois’ Governor, the man with the most-mocked coif since Donald Trump held a press conference during which he made many, many ridiculous statements… and one which earned him the honor of winning this site’s first ever Rudest Person Of The Week honors.

The offending remark?

“There are tens of thousands of people across america just like me, who lost their jobs or who are losing their jobs,” Blago stated, apparently comparing himself to all those suffering due to this country’s economic woes.

Seriously?

But wait, it gets better.

Apparently, this man — only the eighth Governor in our history to ever be impeached — still thinks of himself as a role model. Speaking of other immigrants during the often-meandering press conferene, Blagojevich said, “When it comes to their kids and they think they can’t have an equal chance in America because their names are long and hard to pronounce, all they’ve got to do is look at me.”

Yes, kids, take a good look at the man who was once declared “America’s Least Popular Governor” following the results of a Rasmusssen poll… that was taken before the scandal involving his alleged attempt to sell then-Senator Obama’s senate seat.

 As recent weeks have shown, Mr. Blagojevich is a bit of an attention whore, so it seems only fitting that we here at howrudeareyou bestow upon him our first-ever Rudest Person Of The Week Award.

Wonder if he’ll try to sell it to next week’s winner?
